The Benefits of Spring Cleaning Your Car

The days are getting longer, the last of the snow is starting to melt away, we don’t want to jinx it, but it seems like spring is finally here! Something about the change of seasons and getting out of that winter-funk always motivates people. You see more people out-and-about, walking their dogs and exercising. You clean up your house and get rid of that clutter that’s been building up all winter. And most importantly, you get your car ready for those summer days of going to the beach and driving around with the windows down! To get the most out of your car in the summer you have to start preparing in the spring. Let’s go over all the benefits of spring cleaning your car!

Exterior

We’ll start out by talking about what experiences the biggest beating during the harsh winter months, your car’s exterior. Right now, your car is probably covered in a layer of white, wintery dust. This layer is made up of road salt, dirt, mud, and all sorts of contaminants. Not only is it not a great look for your car, but it can also damage your car if you didn’t winterize your vehicle beforehand. We covered how and why you should winterize your car in a previous blog if you need a refresher of what it entails!

To get rid of all the winter remnants you’ll want to take your car to a professional car wash. A professional car wash will give your vehicle a much more thorough clean than if you were to do it yourself, and it will get all those hard to reach places under the car that you wouldn’t even think to clean.

Waxing & Clay Treatments

While you’re at the carwash getting your car cleaned you should also consider getting a wax and/or clay treatment. A clay treatment is the only thing that is guaranteed to get all the winter remnants off, and a wax will protect it from any summer contaminants.

Summertime in New England is like one big construction zone. It seems like every street you go down there’s road work going on. Well, all that dust and dirt flies right off the road and directly onto your car, which can really damage your exterior if you aren’t protected by a wax coat. Other things like bugs getting smushed onto your car, and then getting left to bake in the sun can also cause damage. Getting a fresh coat of wax on there will protect your paint from these things, and on top of that give it a beautiful shine!

Don’t Forget the Interior!

After a long winter, your interior is probably covered in road salt, sand, dirt, and may even have some water damage. That being said, springtime is the perfect time for a good scrub. Take your floor mats right out of your car and give them a nice shampoo. While they’re out, give your entire car a good vacuum. Vacuuming without the floor mats will allow you to get every single nook and cranny. Or, save the hassle and time it will take for you to clean your interior yourself and let us help you out! You’ll be in and out and no time and your interior will be looking good as new.

If you want even more protection for your car’s interior, ask about our Gtechniq treatment. Gtechniq is a product that we apply to the floors and/or seats of your car that acts as a protective shield and completely waterproofs your surfaces. This treatment is perfect to get right before summer so your interior will be protected from water damage when you’re coming from the beach or pool and have to sit in your car. It’s available for both fabric and leather interiors.

There truly is nothing better than riding around town on a warm day, with your windows rolled down and your car sparkling clean. So, schedule your detail today to beat the big springtime rush and get your car ready for the summer!
